In a special collaboration with World African Artists United and MEXTO, the official partners of ARCO LISBOA, MOVART Gallery presents a new group exhibition with works by artists from Angola, Cape Verde, Mozambique, Sao Tomé and Príncipe. Inaugurated on 24 May, this exhibition can be visited until mid-September at the Palais Castilho, Rua Castilho, n3, in Lisbon.
Polyrhythm, abundant in African music, refers to the simultaneous use of several rhythmic structures that although substantially different harmonise together by that mysterious artistic intuition that turns the technically complex into the spontaneous. We present the practice of multiple artists whose synergic harmony is built from the rhythmic counterpoint between word and pulse in the different textures and layers of meaning contained in them.
