PIEL DE AGUJA
Fernando de Ana
MOVART presents a new exhibition by Spanish artist Fernando de Ana. In ‘Piel de Aguja’, Fernando de Ana illustrates the metamorphosis from a rational geometry to a human carnality to delve into the experiences that relate to the periphery of consciousness and are rooted in the body: the impulses, the desires, the exploration of sexuality and of the barrier between pleasure and pain. Furthermore, he signals that skin is an experiential map and a flag for social readings on identity and status, where skin piercing is connected to ritual in a cross-cultural perspective.
Fernando de Ana manages to encapsulate an artistic ideology through the singularity of a moment linked to his memories and internal dialogues to communicate an experience that isas intimate as it is universal, since piercing the skin recreationally, assuming a certain threshold of pain to border on the pleasurable, responds to that type of human experience that breaks any logical principle.
