“I can't dissociate this from my experience in Angola, at a time when access to art materials wasscarce. Creativity was driven by exploring what was around me, what existed, what I could. These were different times that had a great impact on my work and on my existence”

“The themes are always personal, profound and delicate. My aesthetic concern is centred onthe experience of materials (canvas, wood, metal, acrylic, fabrics), their maximum exploitation, decontextualising or recontextualising, crossing, altering, manipulating; and technique(painting, drawing, collage, sewing, metal oxidation) to achieve an end that is always theclosing of a chapter… or the opening of one.

I can’t dissociate this from my experience in Angola, at a time when access to art materials wasscarce. Creativity was driven by exploring what was around me, what existed, what I could. These were different times that had a great impact on my work and on my existence”.
